I knew that eventually the question “where was this taken?” would come up I just didn’t think it would be so soon! Anyway I live in Southwest Washington, about an hour north of Portland, OR. And it’s pretty awesome out here, especially if you’re an outdoorsy type. But even if you’re not there’s always Portland to the South and Seattle to the North. So if you’re into camping, fishing, boating, hiking, riding (mountain or MX) shooting, hunting….the list goes on, you’ll want to be living out here somewhere. On the flip side if you like fine dining, dancing, ballet, theatre/opera, a little weirdness and microbrew…um you’ll also want to be living out here lol. Yes, it is just that awesome 😉 We get the best of both worlds out here and that’s alright with me. I’m kind of a city/beach girl transplant who’s adapted to the country.
So all of the pictures in my posts have been taken in our little backyard playground in the Pacific Northwest. Gotta love all that green that surrounds us up here, it almost makes up for all the rain. I live in a little logging town that’s nestled in the foothills on the south side of Mt. St. Helens. So yes I have a huge volcano that likes to act up a little, in my back yard. That’s ok though, I love driving home and seeing the mountain in all it’s majestic glory, especially when it’s covered with snow. So gorgeous! My girls always think it looks like a huge cake with white frosting, the imagination of children is priceless “if that were a real cake mom, we’d be eating forever! Cool!” (giggles). I’ve only been up there once when my oldest was about 3 or 4. My sister had come to visit from the east coast and we couldn’t let her miss one of the best features out here, so three hrs later and a nice hike up the hill and we were staring into the crater looking at the new dome that was coming to life. Very cool. I need to plan another trip…
Not only do we have the gorgeous mountain as our back drop but we have several lakes that are between 2-15 minutes from us. Being a beach lover from Virginia, I am very thankful to be in such close proximity to some form of water! Usually we choose between the three closest rec areas and those are where most of my pics posted are from. In the summer it’s just what we do. Throw some snacks in the bag grab some towels and go to the lake. Sometimes the boys will bring the fishing poles but mostly they just like to goof off in the water. There are lots more little rec areas where you can ride your horses, go mountain biking or just hike. There are also lava tubes you can explore called the Ape Caves very cool place but ALWAYS bring extra flashlights or just rent the lanterns!! Trust me, I have actually tried to hustle my backside out of that cave with a dying flashlight!
There are tons of cool places out here and lots of beautiful views and photo ops around every corner. If you can’t get out here or don’t live in the area I will do my best to bring a little bit of it to life through my pictures. I hope you enjoy them 🙂 Oh you can also find me on Instagram @crazypeach come say HI!
Have a beautiful day and I hope the sun is shining where you live…it’s not here!
