Ok obviously based on the title this post could go several different ways, but I’m going to talk about who you are portraying in your business. Otherwise known as “Branding”. I’ve seen a number of articles and videos about who you need to be and how you want people to see you. The best thing I can say is be yourself. If you’re trying to be someone else or act like someone else you are going to eventually wear yourself out. It’s ok to get inspiration from other people but ultimately you have to let yourself shine through. If you’ve ever read anything about marketing you’ve probably heard that “people don’t by the product they buy the person”. So if you’re not being yourself, who are they buying, AND how are your customers going to react when they figure it out?
When I first started Crazypeach.com I meant for it to be a place for my family and friends to go and see pics of my family and keep up to date on the goings on in my life. Well I sucked at that. I put up lots of pictures of the kids and trips and had a few posts but that didn’t last. So eventually I stopped using it. My husband set it up for me about 6 or 7 years ago and I had about 5-6 posts lol…you know more kids less time yada yada. Anyway when I started looking into working online I had completely forgot about Crazypeach and tried to set up shop on a few other sites. For whatever reason I was never satisfied with the other sites, they just didn’t feel right, it wasn’t me. Then one day I had to reset a password for something and my user name popped up and I was like “DUH”! My username on almost all of my social sites is some form of Crazypeach so wouldn’t it make sense to use a website with that name in it to tie it all together? Of course then I looked into setting up a different site with a different version of my name but that went no where because of course I already had this wonderful domain I was doing nothing with. Yay me for figuring it out!
Anyway that’s my little story of how I figured out how to brand myself. Deep down you already know who you are or what you stand for you just need to dig for it and figure it out. Now it’s great to find someone successful and follow their model, I mean they got where they are by doing something right, but don’t be such a copycat that you are trying to portray yourself as that person. It’s easy to fall into that trap. Your blog looks the same, the words sound the same, you start dressing the same (I hope not), ect. You get the point. We are all different and unique in our own ways and that should be what people see about you. I hope this all makes sense, it does in my head…go be you and let the real you attract others!
Have an amazing day I hope the sun is shining for you! Oh and if you like what you’ve read by all means SHARE it! Sharing is caring ;0)
